Driver Charged with Careless Driving Causing Death

Police have charged a 31-year-old woman from Halls Head, south of Perth, in connection with a car crash that resulted in the tragic death of twin seven-year-old girls in Western Australia’s Wheatbelt region. The incident occurred on Great Eastern Highway in Carrabin, between Merredin and Southern Cross, on Sunday February 18.

The Fatal Crash

Emergency services responded to the scene of a serious accident involving a white Toyota Camry sedan that had veered off the road and collided with a tree. Unfortunately, both twin girls, identified as Riley and Macey, lost their lives in the crash.

Identification of the Driver

The driver, also injured in the accident, was initially taken to Merredin Hospital for medical treatment. She has now been formally charged by the Western Australian Police Force with two counts of careless driving causing death, grievous bodily harm or bodily harm.

The 31-year-old woman is scheduled to appear before the Northam Magistrates Court on Monday to face the charges pressed against her.
