Alleged Abduction: Victoria Police Withdraws Charges Against Two Teenagers

Victoria Police has formally rescinded all charges against two individuals who were previously apprehended and accused in connection with the alleged abduction of a teenage girl outside a Melbourne educational institution.

Eighteen-year-old Ayom Deng was taken into custody in Melbourne's western suburbs at approximately 10:00 AM on Wednesday. This arrest was made in relation to a purported incident occurring near a school in the city's south-east.

Authorities had initially alleged that the 17-year-old girl, while entering the school premises around 8:30 AM last Friday, was approached by a male individual and subsequently compelled into a vehicle.

During his appearance before the Melbourne Magistrates' Court on Wednesday, charge documents presented against Deng outlined five alleged offences. These notably included the accusation of abducting the girl "with intent on marrying... without her consent."

A 15-year-old male, identified as Deng's co-accused, had also been facing an abduction charge in connection with the same incident.

Victoria Police has confirmed that all involved parties have been duly informed of the decision to withdraw these charges.
