Solomon, who expects to remain at the Bombers in some capacity next year, also brushed aside concerns that his winless record—four straight losses since taking the helm after Round 11—might impact his suitability for a senior position. "If I was worried about my CV, I wouldn't have been an interim coach twice," he asserted, referencing his previous temporary stints.
Hird Enters the Fray
The coaching saga took a significant turn with James Hird's formal entry. The former champion confirmed he had spoken with club president and another ex-teammate, Andrew Welsh, shortly after Essendon outlined its selection criteria last week. "Of course, we expected those two (Hird and Welsh) to probably have a conversation. Hird has put his hand up for the job," Solomon commented, acknowledging the natural progression of Hird's candidacy. "That's obviously the start of the process, talking to the candidates. It'll all play out."
