Clyde North Mourns Beloved Mother, Community Rallies Against Domestic Violence

A south-eastern Melbourne community has rallied to raise nearly $40,000 for the family of Brooke Timmins, a young mother who died following an alleged attack by her partner on Sunday night.

Emergency services rushed to the 29-year-old mother's home on Generation Drive in Clyde North at approximately 6:30pm on Sunday. Paramedics found Ms Timmins with critical injuries, and she was transported to The Alfred hospital. Despite efforts to save her, she passed away a short time later.

Family Mourns a Devoted Mother

In a heart-wrenching tribute, Ms Timmins' brother, Lachie Timmins, remembered his sister as a devoted mother who was loved beyond words, while demanding stronger action to combat domestic violence.

"We need better awareness, better support, and real action so that no other family has to endure this unbearable pain," he said.

"No child should ever have to say goodbye to their mother because of domestic violence."

"No family should have to experience this kind of heartbreak. No woman should have to live in fear."

Reflecting on the future her two young sons now face, Mr Timmins expressed the family's immense grief.

"My sister was loved, she mattered, and she should still be here watching her boys grow up," he said.

"My beautiful sister's life was taken far too soon, and now her two precious little boys have to grow up without their mum."

"We will carry her memory with us forever, and we will keep fighting for a future where no more women lose their lives to violence."

Partner Remanded in Custody

Ms Timmins' partner, 32-year-old Jorden Turney, made a brief appearance in the Melbourne Magistrates' Court on Monday. during which the court was informed of his psychiatric illness diagnosis and the risk of self-harm while in custody.

Mr Turney did not apply for bail and has been remanded to appear again for a committal hearing in November.
