Fatal Car Crash in Parwan Claims Life of School-Aged Child

A child has died in a single-vehicle rollover west of Melbourne, while six others have been taken to hospital with injuries. One of those children had critical injuries and was flown to the Royal Children's Hospital.

A devastating car rollover in Parwan, west of Melbourne, has claimed the life of a school-aged child and injured six others, with one child suffering critical injuries.

Emergency services were called to the scene near the Nerowie and Parwan-Exford road intersections, south-west of Melton, just before 4pm. Victorian Police confirmed that despite CPR being performed, one school-aged child died at the scene.

"Despite CPR being performed, one school-aged child died at the scene," a spokesperson said.

A second child was airlifted with critical injuries, while five more children were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. One woman was taken to hospital for observation.

Hospital Updates

Ambulance Victoria said several children had been taken to the Royal Children's Hospital, including the one who was flown by helicopter. A Western Health spokesperson confirmed that three children were being treated at Sunshine Hospital and all were in a stable condition.

An adult was taken to the Royal Melbourne Hospital.

Investigation Underway

Ambulance Victoria said many of its specialist crews responded to the incident.

"Two specialist Air Ambulance Victoria helicopter crews, two Mobile Intensive Care Ambulance paramedic crews and seven Advanced Life Support paramedic crews assessed eight people at the scene," an ambulance spokesperson said.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
