A 32-year-old Melbourne man has been formally charged with multiple assault offences following two separate incidents at massage parlours in the city's bustling central business district last week.

Authorities confirm that the alleged assaults occurred on July 9, with the man reportedly entering two different massage businesses located on Bourke Street. In each instance, it is alleged that he assaulted a woman working at the respective premises.

The investigation gained momentum after local police were alerted to videos of the alleged incidents circulating widely across social media platforms. Investigators noted that no formal reports had been lodged by the victims or businesses immediately after the assaults took place. These social media postings were crucial in prompting law enforcement to act, leading to a dedicated effort to identify the specific locations of the alleged crimes and the individuals affected.

Following their investigations, officers apprehended the Melbourne resident yesterday on Collins Street. He has since been formally charged with various assault offences related to both incidents. The accused has been remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Melbourne Magistrates' Court today to face the charges.
