Murder Investigation Deepens: Third Teen Charged in Tragic Craigieburn Stabbing

The family and friends of Darweish Mohamed are gathering today to honor his memory, following the tragic death of the 15-year-old who was allegedly stabbed outside a northern Melbourne hospital earlier this week. In a significant development, a third teenager has now been formally charged with the murder of young Darweish, whose life was cut short on Wednesday night.

Authorities confirmed the arrest last night of a 14-year-old male, who now faces a murder charge in connection with the fatal incident. He is scheduled to appear before a children's court.

The victim was discovered in the car park of Craigieburn Community Hospital on Lygon Drive by a dedicated staff member who promptly administered CPR. Despite these immediate efforts, Darweish Mohamed tragically succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

Darweish, a resident of Mickleham, was a student at Mount Ridley P-12 College, located in Craigieburn.

As the community grapples with the profound loss, tributes continue to accumulate outside the hospital where the incident occurred, with flowers and messages of condolence laid by mourners. A crowdfunding initiative established to support the bereaved family has surpassed an impressive $60,000 in donations, reflecting widespread solidarity.

This latest charge follows the earlier arrests and murder charges laid against two other teenage boys, aged 15 and 16, yesterday. Both are currently being held in custody and are slated to appear in court for a committal hearing in November.

The scope of the police investigation has also led to further charges against other individuals connected to the case. A 20-year-old man has been charged with fire damage in relation to Darweish's death, while a 15-year-old girl faces charges of motor vehicle theft and affray.
