Tragedy in Springvale South: Man Killed in House Fire as Arson Chemist Probes Scene

A tragic incident unfolded late Friday evening in Melbourne's south-east, claiming the life of a man believed to be in his sixties following a devastating house fire.

Emergency services were dispatched to a Springvale South residence just before 11 pm, where a room had become fully engulfed in flames, prompting a swift response from Ambulance Victoria crews.

The man was extricated from the burning room and, despite immediate medical attention, was found unresponsive. He was subsequently transported to The Alfred Hospital, where he tragically succumbed to his injuries.

A spokesperson for Victoria Police confirmed the somber outcome, stating, "A man who was pulled from the room unresponsive was taken to hospital where he sadly succumbed to his injuries."

The precise origins of the inferno remain unclear, prompting a thorough investigation. An arson chemist is currently examining the site as authorities work diligently to determine the cause of the blaze. Authorities have yet to formally identify the deceased, and a comprehensive report will be prepared for the coroner.
