Federal MP Helen Haines Injured Outside Wangaratta Office
Federal Member for Indi Helen Haines was injured in an incident outside her Wangaratta office yesterday afternoon. Her family has released a statement thanking emergency responders and asking for privacy.
Local Federal Member Helen Haines was injured in an incident outside her Wangaratta office yesterday afternoon. Emergency services were called to Murphy Street shortly before 4pm.
The street was closed in both directions as police responded to the incident. Dr Haines has been the federal member for Indi since 2019.
In a statement, her family said she was receiving medical treatment. "This afternoon, our beloved Helen was involved in an incident outside her Wangaratta Electorate Office, and is receiving medical care," the statement said.
"We thank the swift assistance of bystanders and the dedicated health workers who assisted her, and police for their response."
"Our family, and Helen’s staff, will be making no further comment at this time, and ask that their privacy be respected by the public and media."
