A car was set alight in the driveway of a home in Keilor early yesterday morning, in the second firebombing in a residential street in Melbourne's north-west in less than 24 hours.

The incident occurred on Petrik Drive in Keilor at around 3am, with police reporting that the offenders fled the scene before emergency services arrived.

“No one was inside the vehicle at the time and there was no damage to nearby properties,” a Victoria Police spokesperson said.

The car was destroyed in the fire. This latest incident follows a firebombing in the nearby suburb of Taylors Hill yesterday morning, in which a teenage boy was engulfed in flames and remains in a critical condition in hospital.

A stolen car used by offenders in the Taylors Hill incident also caught alight and was destroyed. Police are still searching for two people who fled the scene.

Anyone who witnessed either incident, has any videos or information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.
