Meanwhile, veteran Matildas midfielder Tameka Yallop has completed a sensational move to grand finalists Wellington Phoenix, bringing an end to her legendary tenure with the Brisbane Roar.

Vine Boosts City’s Title Defence

Vine, 28, etched her name into Australian sporting folklore during the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup when she calmly slotted the winning penalty in the Matildas' thrilling quarter-final shootout victory against France. Now, the explosive winger is back on home soil to spearhead Melbourne City’s campaign on both domestic and continental fronts.

After a two-year stint in the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) with the North Carolina Courage—where she made 23 appearances and focused on managing her mental health—Vine is eager to rediscover her best form in a familiar environment.

"I'm really excited to be coming home and joining Melbourne City," Vine said.
