Saints struggle to score single point in Bulldogs defeat, Essendon claim breakthrough AFLW victory against GWS
Genuinely just so proud of the resilience of the group,
A disappointing St Kilda side managed just a single point, the club's lowest ever score in an AFLW match, as they succumbed to a 30-point defeat at the hands of the Western Bulldogs in Ballarat.
The Saints' sole point came courtesy of Ashleigh Richards, a meager consolation for a team that has yet to taste victory this season. The Bulldogs, despite struggling in challenging conditions with sideways rain and strong winds, managed to score three goals and 13 behinds.
Rylie Wilcox, Sarah Hartwig, and Cleo Buttifant found the scoreboard for the Bulldogs, while Isabelle Pritchard stood out with 35 disposals and six clearances.
In a more positive turn of events for Essendon, they secured their first win of the 2026 AFLW season with an eight-point comeback victory over GWS. Star midfielder Madison Prespakis was instrumental in the win, amassing 13 disposals, six contested possessions, three clearances, and a goal in the third term.
