Carlton’s interim coach Josh Fraser is poised to enter highly anticipated talks with club management this week regarding his coaching future, bolstered by an overwhelming wave of support from both the playing group and the Blues faithful.

The 43-year-old has engineered a remarkable resurgence at Ikon Park since taking the reins in mid-May following the departure of Michael Voss. Under Fraser's stewardship, Carlton has transformed from a struggling 1-8 outfit into a genuine force, racking up 10 victories and conceding just two losses.

Fan Phenomenon: 'We Want Fraser'

The pressure on Carlton’s board to lock Fraser down permanently reached a fever pitch over the weekend. Following a commanding 44-point victory, the Carlton crowd made their desires unmistakable, sending echoing chants of "we want Fraser" through the stands.

While Fraser has yet to formally declare his candidacy for the vacant head coaching position, he confirmed that conversations with the club's hierarchy are scheduled to take place in the coming days.

"At some stage this week there'll be an opportunity to have some conversations with the club," Fraser said. "It'll be sometime this week."

Players Thriving Under New Freedom

The resurgence under Fraser has been characterized by a distinct shift in Carlton's playing style. Blues half-back Adam Cerra highlighted the positive impact the interim coach has had on the squad's mindset and on-field execution.

"Frase has probably allowed a bit of freedom for us to do that, a bit of simplicity in the way we're trying to play," Cerra explained. "It hasn't set too many boundaries on us. It's more trying to explore what our best football looks like and building that week to week."

Cerra emphasized that the squad fully supports the club's official recruitment process, but made no secret of the locker room's admiration for Fraser. "The boys obviously love playing with him. We'll leave that [decision] to the club."

Eye on the Prize

Despite the external noise and mounting speculation, Fraser remains laser-focused on the task at hand. With Carlton currently sitting eight points clear in 10th position and eyeing a potential wildcard berth, the interim coach is refusing to let himself get distracted by hypotheticals.

"I've just tried to stay as narrow as I can," Fraser said regarding his approach. "I still feel such a responsibility to this role as interim coach. That's what I needed to, and have, focused all of my energy on — because I would be doing a disservice, not only to our players, but our staff and everyone, if I started to stray away from that."

With massive clashes against the Western Bulldogs and Fremantle looming on the horizon, the Blues' destiny remains in their own hands. As Fraser put it: "It's not about daring to dream, I think the thing that's taking us forward is we are just attaching ourselves to the work that we need to do."
