Roberts starred with 31 disposals, four clearances, one goal assist, nine tackles, and 717m gained as the Eagles survived a frenzied Essendon comeback to post 6.9 (45) to 4.11 (35).
Eagles overcome Essendon surge
The Eagles led by as much as 34 points in the third quarter and still had a 28-point margin at the final change, with Essendon scoring just two goals up until that moment.
However, Essendon launched a fierce attack in the last quarter, but ultimately fell short, kicking 2.7 to 0.1 as West Coast clung on to victory.
