A prominent figure in Melbourne's social scene and a co-founder of a local dental practice has seen a serious charge of drink spiking against her officially struck out. Amy Tossoun, 34, appeared via her legal representatives at the Mansfield Magistrates' Court on Wednesday, where a significant step was taken in her legal proceedings concerning an alleged incident at a Mount Buller hotel.

Ms. Tossoun, widely recognised in Melbourne's elite circles and a co-founder of The Richmond Dentist, had been facing an allegation of introducing a drug of dependence into another person’s body. Additionally, she was charged with possessing an amphetamine. The latest court appearance followed a successful application to have the matter reinstated before the court.

During Wednesday's hearing, Magistrate Heather Lambick delivered a pivotal ruling. The alleged drink spiking charge was formally struck out, effectively dismissing the accusation. Furthermore, Ms. Tossoun was granted a diversion in relation to the amphetamine possession charge, which was subsequently withdrawn by the prosecution. A diversion order typically allows an individual to undertake certain conditions, such as rehabilitation or community work, in lieu of a conviction, often resulting in the charge being dropped once completed successfully.

While the legal process has been underway, Ms. Tossoun has maintained a public profile. Just a month after a previous court appearance in June, she shared photographs on social media depicting her attendance at the prestigious Wimbledon tennis championships, highlighting her continued engagement in high-profile social events. Ms. Tossoun herself was not present at Wednesday's hearing, with her legal team representing her interests.

Despite the dismissal of the primary charge, an application for an order related to the case remains listed for a future date, specifically October 14. The exact nature of this remaining application has not been publicly detailed.
