The AFL trade period has reached its climax, with the futures of several players still uncertain as the 7:30pm AEST deadline approaches.

Several key players are in limbo, including Keidean Coleman, who Brisbane is reportedly playing hardball over, and Jayden Short.

Trade Period Closing Time

The official close time for trades is 7:30pm AEST, although there may be some flexibility if paperwork is lodged close to the deadline.

"As long as you're in line to lodge the paperwork by 7:30 then that's good enough for the AFL," a source said.

"I don't think any of these teams would want to leave things that late though!"

Jack Viney's Future

West Coast is expected to sign Jack Viney, but the deal is complicated by the Demons' desire to package him with Trent Rivers.

"I do think the Jack Viney to West Coast move will get done by the deadline tonight," a source said.

"West Coast have been trying to treat this move as a separate one to the Trent Rivers play."

Gryan Miers' Future

Gryan Miers' manager had stated that his client would remain at Geelong, but the situation appears to be fluid.

"It's hard to talk in absolutes in this business, and I do feel like there has been a bit of posturing in Pickering's comments on Miers all trade period," a source said.

"The truth is that he is available for the right price."

Essendon and Brisbane in Talks

Essendon is keen to sign Keidean Coleman, but Brisbane is holding out for a top-20 pick.

"The Cats are reportedly adamant on a top-20 pick for Miers, so the asking price is the same as Brisbane's for Keidean Coleman," a source said.
