Eliud Kipchoge has broken the Melbourne Marathon record with a dominating performance, finishing in 2 hours 9 minutes and 10 seconds.
The Kenyan superstar, a dual Olympic champion and former world record holder, kicked clear in the last 10 kilometres of the 42.2km race to leave Australians Thomas Do Canto and Reece Edwards in his wake.
A Record-Breaking Performance
Kipchoge's time was 2 seconds inside the previous race best, but he may have finished a few seconds quicker if not for waving to the crowd on the half-lap inside the MCG to the finish.
