The final MotoGP race held at Phillip Island was cancelled on Sunday due to poor visibility caused by heavy rain. The event, which was set to be the last at the island circuit before moving to South Australia in 2027, was plagued by wet weather throughout the day.

The Moto3 race and Australian Superbikes race three were also cancelled earlier on Sunday. Fans had been waiting in the stands for hours, braving the wet and windy conditions, before the announcement was made at 3:30pm that the MotoGP race had been called off.

The race had been delayed from its original 2pm start time, with hopes it would begin at 4:30pm. A MotoGP riders farewell lap was scheduled for 3:45pm. Jack Miller was seen farewelling fans after the race was cancelled.

In a statement, the Australian Grand Prix Corporation said poor visibility that prevented the medical helicopter from flying was behind the cancellation. "We know this is an incredibly disappointing outcome for fans, teams and everyone who has contributed to the event," it said. "Safety must always come first, and racing cannot take place without the medical helicopter able to operate."

The corporation announced it would provide full refunds for Sunday ticketholders and partial refunds for multi-day ticketholders. The official morning warm up was also cancelled, along with track side entertainment such as the monster trucks and a celebratory legends lap with world champions Mick Doohan, Casey Stoner and Wayne Gardner.
